Putting the farm in farm brewery
We’re located on a 37-acre farm in Caledon, ON. We’ve planted over 200 fruit trees that will be used to make beer in the coming years, a vegetable garden, and 12 beehives. We’re committed to restoring the land we use by working with our local conservation authority to reintroduce native grasses, wildflowers, and add bird and bat boxes to create a nice habitat for the wildlife around us.
Our approach to brewing
We use the finest ingredients we can find for our hoppy beers and lagers as we aim to make classic beer influenced by modern brewing techniques. All of our saisons, fruit beers, and spontaneous beers use almost exclusively Ontario-grown ingredients and focus on natural fermentation using cultures from the environment around us. Quality is the name of the game, so we’re always tweaking and trying to improve our process to make the best beer we can.

In 1822, our great great great great grandfather Fidel Burgmaier started Sonnen Brauerei in Schmiechen, a small town in southern Germany. They brewed lager beer in open fermenters and conditioned beer in large horizontal lagering tanks, serving their local community for over 160 years. Today, we continue the tradition by making simple and easy-drinking beers that can be enjoyed by all.
